About

The Northern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition (NNBC) is offering an exciting opportunity to promote equality and diversity in the Breastfeeding community. Please share with all whom you think may be interested or who may benefit from this opportunity.  The NNBC is inviting all women of color over the age of 18 to apply for a scholarship to become peer educators for a new "Black Indigenous and People of Color (BIPOC): Mother's Virtual Support Group." This October, six women of color will be selected to take a peer educators course, taught by Brittni Lents, IBCLC. In addition to covering Breastfeeding basics, Brittni will also be touching on some topics specific to the Black community, including racial disparities within the health care system, the history of Black Breastfeeding within the US and the "why's" of the importance of Breastfeeding within the Black community. The training's will be offered October 17th and 18th via zoom. The six women selected will then become the vanguard of a new virtual support group for BIPOC mothers, from the prenatal stage to toddlerhood. Additionally, the virtual support groups will be inclusive to all WOC, despite feeding choices.   To apply for a spot in the October training, please go to https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSflHofAlPnna8GOJxOMR3WvZAQKI-C_KqjOUByE6Mrqfwl13w/viewform   For more information please visit our website https://nnbc.wildapricot.org/, or the coalition’s Facebook page, https://www.facebook.com/NNBreastfeedingCoalition   For questions please contact the Northern Nevada Breastfeeding Coalition at nnBreastfeedingcoalition@gmail.com   Thank you for your support!
