About
For this event, we are looking for a 4-H Collegiate member willing to speak to our 4-H teens about Communication! Our hope is to empower our 4-Hers to become resilient leaders with skills in collaboration, problem-solving, and creativity. Please read the following for important details regarding the event:
- In order to sign up for this event, you must already be pre-approved as a Jackson County 4-H volunteer through UGA Engage. A background check is not required for this event.
- This event will take place virtually. The link to the Zoom meeting will be sent to your email address the morning of the event.
- You will be giving a short TED-style talk (approx. 20 minutes) to 4-H teen leaders about communication. Sample topics to address in your talk are (but not limited to):
- What makes someone a good communicator?
- What are some examples of poor communication skills?
- Why are effective communication skills important?
- What are different types of communication styles?
- Describe a time you struggled to communicate with someone and how you resolved it.
- How has communication applied to your life as a college student? During your time in 4-H?
- If you have any additional activities or questions you would like to do (we love making things as interactive as possible!), please let us know ahead of time if we can help facilitate this for you.

Wondering if you should register to volunteer? Based on the CDC guidelines, we are asking you the following questions:
- Have you been exposed to someone who has been diagnosed with COVID-19? See the CDC’s risk assessment guidance.
- Do you have symptoms consistent with COVID-19? Symptoms can include a cough or shortness of breath or at least two of the following: Fever, Chills, Repeated shaking with chills, Muscle pain, Headache, Sore throat, New loss of taste or smell. See the CDC’s symptom information.
